This Weeks Video: Is the teaser of my 2023 hunting season. While season had many ups and downs I was successfully able to harvest three great Mule Deer bucks along side my first Moose. Stay tuned as more videos drop from this exciting season.

On this weeks episode we bring you one of the last goose hunts of the season. This is a self filmed hunt along side my good friends Kegan and Travis along with my dad Greg. We were able to work multiple flocks of geese right into the decoys for some thrilling action in early December.

On this weeks episode we venture to new territories. Yes Canada the first time I have ventured to this country in hopes of finding some great trout fishing options. Stay tuned to watch some great Brook Trout and Steelhead on the fly action.

I plan to do video breakdowns on all the gear I use, letting you know the things I liked and disliked about the gear I use today.

Spot and stalk late September Bulls. I was lucky enough to slip into a nice herd on my last day. This is the story of my first elk and a heck of a ten day hunt.

On this weeks episode we bring you what The River means to me. It’s a story of how my love for fly fishing started and where it has adapted to today. I want to have a special thank you to everyone who helped out in the filming of this video and I hope you enjoy it.

Keeping with the more interactive theme, we bring you the fishing report from the Kinni. With water conditions favorable we get into some nice fish. Areas to target this week are faster water and fronts of pools. The warm weather the last few days have fish active. We are also starting to see Caddis start showing up. Flies that are working are BWO’s Midges and Caddis. Please reach out for more information or to book a trip.

Keeping with the theme of last weeks video, we are off exploring new water. Watch as Mike Pierce and I target storm front trout on new water. Later in the video I will dig into the three tools I use to locate new rivers to fish. This weeks report remains consistent with the past week. Nymph fishing stone flies or your nymph of choice will work. Streamer fishing has been good in the dirty water or in lower light conditions. Dry flies we have been targeting fish on are size 20 or 22 BWO’s with the lead fly being a size 14 Caddis. please check out the links below.

On this weeks report video, I decided to mix things up and fish a new Driftless river. With lots of rain in the forecast and the potential for the Kinni and Rush to be blown out I took the opportunity to break down how I approach and run and a pool this time of year. This time of the year is my favorite and typically provided bigger fish. These fish are moving out to targeting the eggs of suckers moving into the systems to spawn. I would fish in and around these suckers, fishing anything with pink. Thanks for watching this weeks video. Please shoot me a follow on Facebook or Instagram. If interested in booking a trip my number is 715-690-9934. unfortunately the website is down for the next couple days while I work on updating some things.

On this week episode we are on week four of the report. Fishing still seems to be good after the high water last weekend. Conditions have started to normalize. This warm weather this week has eaten away at a lot of our snow, but there is still some water pooling in fields towards the head waters of the Kinni. This means there is still some potential for stained water. Check out the USGS gauge before heading to the river. https://waterdata.usgs.gov/usa/nwis/uv?05342000 The warmer weather this week has brought the BWO’s out, We are getting fish on midge and BWO patterns in the size 16 to 20 range along with fish on larger nymph patterns. Current conditions on the Kinni during this video was 160 CFS and water temps in the high 30s, water clarity was around 8 inches to a foot. The Rush river typically clears more quickly and visibility up to 18 inches. I would predict by this week for things to be much more fish-able then today. I would target trout on small to mid size streams, dark in color or on larger bug patterns in the 10 – 12 size hook range.

On this weeks episode we are fishing on the Rush River. The current conditions for the week may very with snow and rain in the forecast along with running into sections of stained water with warm weekends run off. Flows seem to be stable to slightly high depending on the days run off. I am hoping the snow pack will melt off in the next couple of weeks but the current forecast says otherwise. We check the water temps and they are around 38 to 44 degrees depending on the time of the day. We have been finding success on a wide range of nymph patterns ranging from small size 20 midges to buckskins, larva and stonefly imitations. In dirtier sections of river, we have sized up our flies to size 10 or 12 stone flies. We are seeing some active fish rising to midges as there have been some heavier hatches on the warmer sunny days. We are finding active fish moving up into faster water making it ideal to target with a tight line or euro nymphing set up. We are still catching fish sitting down in deeper holes ranging from 2.5 ft to 4 ft deep floating an indicator.

Welcome to Hunter Ellstrom Media and the 24-mile project. The 24-mile project is going to be this year’s weekly river report video, where we will be breaking down the current river and fishing conditions. We hope to bring you value in knowing what to expect before getting out on the water. We will cover the weekly river conditions and briefly discuss where and how we are finding success on the river. The report videos are typically taken in the northern part of the Driftless on the Kinni and Rush rivers. As river conditions may vary, we will bring you the content of other streams within an hour’s drive of river falls Wisconsin.
